Uniform civil code: A socio-historic objective necessity
Author(s): Narra Vishnumurty
Abstract: Nothing is permanent and nothing is relative, everything is permanent and everything is relative under the given objective natural and social conditions. This value of relativity is applicable to all the theories pertaining to nature, society and life. Just as all theories and values are constantly undergoing changes and development keeping in the prevailing, objective socio-economic-political and historic conditions, so the cultural and ethical values will also undergo several changes as necessitated by the prevailing socio-cultural environment in particular. Hence, there is a greater need for the emergence of Uniform Civil Code (UCC). In order to justify the historic cause of Uniform Civil Code, this paper highlights the issues and concepts related to Democracy, Secularism, National Market, Unified Thinking, Unified National Culture, Special Laws and Acts related to Hindu Undivided Family (HUF) Act, Islamic Personal Law, Dual Citizenship, Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) and so on so forth.
